Buttermilk Donuts recipe
Ingredients:
2 large eggs, beaten.
5 cups of sifted flour.
2 cups of buttermilk.
1 cup of granulated sugar.
½ cup of melted butter.
2 teaspoons of baking soda.
1 teaspoon of baking powder.
1 teaspoon of salt.
1 teaspoon of nutmeg.
¼ teaspoon of cinnamon.
Oil for frying.
Preparation Instructions:
Combine the together the buttermilk, eggs, and sugar.
Set this mixture aside to rest.
Mix together the other dry ingredients.
Add the buttermilk mixture to the dry ingredients and combine.
Stir in the melted butterand knead until a soft dough is created.
Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to approximately ¼ inch in thickness.
Cut out shapes with a donut cutter.
In a deep-fat fryer, heat oil to 370°F (190°C).
Fry the doughnuts on each side for approximately 1 minute or until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels.
Dip in sugar to serve.
